DP 2 Project - Color Theory Forms Composite
DP 4 Project - Impressionistic Masterstudy

Monday: Complete your grayscale value sphere. Prepare palette and canvas paper for next form painting. Discuss Post-Planning Pages and working on them as you complete the project. DP4 should be working on their underpainting. Homework assignment will be given for DP2 and DP4.
Tuesday: Demo Monochromatic Value Sphere. Work on monochromatic value sphere. 2nd Period Homework is due.
Wednesday: Complete Monochromatic Value Sphere. DP4 - begin the mid-state of your painting.
Thursday: Demo Dull and Intense monochromatic value sphere. Work on next value sphere.
Friday: Complete dull and intense monochromatic value sphere. DP4 Home Drawing Assignment will be given. Folders are due.

Upcoming Due Dates:

Pre-Planning Pages - REsubmissions due by Wednesday, February 2 (originally in class I said I would take them by Monday, but I have not been able to pass out all of the grades.)
Drawing Homework: 5 black ballpoint pen gestural drawings of your hand holding your cell phone or MP3 player. (each should be 3 minutes in length - dated and timed). Due on Tuesday, February 8th.
DP4 Home Drawing Assignment: use a 12x9 piece of drawing paper. Set up a still life in your home of three of your most favorite objects. Use a light source to create shadows. Use your drawing pencils to render the still life. Due on Monday, Feburary 14th.

Monday: Demo grayscale value sphere in acrylic paint. DP4 continue working on your pre-planning pages.
Tuesday: Demo monochromatic value sphere. Work on both value spheres using tints and shades. Complete pre-planning pages. DP4 needs to complete their pre-planning pages.Pre-planning pages due.
Wednesday: Work on value sphere and monochromatic value sphere. DP4 - begin acrylic painting by making thumbnails from your reference photo. Analyze lights and darks and begin thinking in color.
Thursday: Continue working on value spheres. DP4 - begin underpainting.
Friday: Introduce monochromatic value sphere using intense and dull shading. . DP4 - work on acrylic painting.

Drawing Homework: 5 black ballpoint pen gestural drawings of your lunch (each should be 3 minutes in length). Due on Tuesday, February 1st. (2nd period only this week. 1st period completed this homework assignment this week.)

Tuesday: Welcome back from a week of snow and ice. Your parent/Guardian form is due. Details below. Discuss Pre-planning pages again and show example. Discuss expectations. Discuss clean-up grade and expectations. DP4 will begin working on their masterstudy of a Monet in oil pastels and will begin using the daily planning log sheets.
Wednesday: Work on pre-planning pages in class. Begin gessoing paper to paint. DP4 reference photo is due.
Thursday: Introduce acrylic painting procedures with a power point. Students must pass a test on acrylic painting before beginning painting. DP4 working on Pre-Planning pages.
Friday: Work on Pre-Planning pages. Begin the grayscale value sphere micro-painting. Pre-planning pages due by Monday, January 24. DP4 Pre-Planning pages are due with DP1.

DP4 reference photo (this is the photo you want to work from on your own acrylic painting) is due on Wednesday, January 19th.

Wednesday: We handed out the new DP2 and DP4 syllabus. (The syllabus has been uploaded to the blog.) We set up our folders for this semester. The example is in my room.
Thursday: We began our study of color theory and our first pre-planning pages for the first unit.
Friday: We worked on the pre-planning pages. The due date for the pre-planning pages will be set for next week and will depend on how both classes are progressing.

Homework for this week:

Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Form is due signed by Monday, January 10
If it snows and we are not at school on Monday, then the assignments are due on Tuesday, January 11.
