Studio Projects: Charcoal Self-Portraits
- Monday: Extra Credit Journal Assignment Due Today! New Journal Assignment-3 pages on Perspective. Work on Self-portraits. Use careful measurement to get accurate proportions and perspective. Drawing hair.
- Tuesday: Work on self-portraits. Adding clothing, background, and "icing on the cake" details. New HW Assignment.
- Wednesday: Work on self-portraits-Due Thursday December 2.
- Thursday: Self-portrait Drawings Due today! Work on Perspective Journal assignment-due Monday or Tuesday 12/6-12/7 (EOCT Schedule)
- Friday: Finish Perspective Journal assignment. Introduce Gesture TBD
Homework – Beginning on Tuesday November 30 your homework will be to draw 5 boxes from different perspectives, or eye levels. You will need only 1 box (shoe box, cereal box, tissue box, jewelry box, etc) to draw from observation! Place the box on a table, sit in 5 different places for 5 minutes each to draw the box from different perspectives. (Hint: Sit directly in front of the box, Stand over the box looking down at it, Sit on the floor and look up at the box, Turn the corner of the box toward you, etc) Use pen, record the beginning and ending time. Draw for 5 minutes uninterrupted. Remember this is modified contour drawing – all will be in line. Drawings due on Tuesday December 7th .
VVJournal Assignment: Exploring and Practicing Perspective (Aerial and Linear). This journal is broken down into 3 parts, so you will essentially have 3 complete pages on perspective. The first page explores different terms and vocabulary related to perspective, the second page explores famous artists and artworks that use perspective, and the third page will be your own perspective still-life drawing. Due Monday 12/6 or Tuesday 12/7 (depending on which day you come to Drawing and Painting on EOCT Schedule) See assignment sheet below.
