September 20-25

DP 1 - Unit 1 Studio Project - A Well-Composed Composite of Drawing Techniques of the Same Object
  • Monday: Review the expectations for the studio project and due date. Work on Studio Project.
  • Tuesday: Discuss journaling assignments and demo in class on journaling expectations.
  • Wednesday - Friday: Work on studio projects and journal assignments. Studio Project is due on Friday at the end of class.

DP Weekly Homework: Beginning on Wednesday evening, make a 15 minute drawing  of your hand holding a pair of scissors each day. Write the date and beginning and ending times. Use pen. Due on Tuesday, September 28.


Journal Assignments Changes from the original assignment sheet:

  1. Make Technique pages using all of the following mini-labs you have created in class. (use as many pages as necessary)
Stippling Sphere
Outline Contour
Value Collage Sphere
Cross-contour object
Hatching object
Cross-hatching sphere in pencil
Cross-hatching sphere in pen
Hi-contrast object
·       Make a main title and label each technique.
·       For each technique include a reflection statement about what worked and what didn’t with the technique. Leave yourself some information to look back on.

  1. Object Research (full page or bleed)
·       Research your tool online. Find out who made, how it is used, and when was it invented.
·       Make a title.

DP 3 

Journal Assignment: you should be finishing up your research for your journal pages. Journal should be completed by Friday, Sept. 24.
Studio Project Assignment: Assignment will be handed out in class and due date set.
Home Project: Assignment will be handed out and due dates set. Students will also have to find an artist who has completed this type of painting as a reference.
